Welcome to CEP Carlisle LTD, a local family business formally Caldew Electrical Supplies. Formed in 1998, CEP was created on the foundation of 15years experience in the wholesale industry and the realisation that there was a need for a local wholesale to provide quality products, excellent service but most importantly to meet and understand the needs of local people.

Following a steady growth, Caldew Electrical Supplies changed to CEP (Carlisle) Ltd. Meaning Caldew Electrical & Plumbing. The addition of plumbing materials meant the company was able to expand its customer base whilst continuing to offer excellent service. As the company continued to grow and expand, new avenues were explored with the creation of Kitchen, Bathroom and Lighting department. This allowed the company to attract new customers and compete in a growing market.

In January 2005, the city of Carlisle faced one of its greatest challenges to date. The city was hit by a severe flood which left homes and businesses under metres of water. CEP was badly affected as a lot of stock and their premises on Shaddongate were damaged. With help from customers, friends and family trading was quickly resumed and the event was seen as an opportunity to progress. The warehouse area was extended and the trade counter was updated to give a more friendly & modern feel.

The company had grown to a point where further expansion was necessary and it was realised that the existing premises no longer suited their needs going forward. CEP moved to Junction Street in the shadow of Dixons Chimney. The 3 story building was a former drinks factory called Underwoods (see Crown Works History). The building provided room for a trade counter, warehouse facility, office and 2 large showrooms. CEP began trading from here in 2015 and continues to do so today.

CEP (Carlisle) Ltd is a proud member of the IBA, one of the largest independent buying groups in the UK. Being part of the IBA provides direct access to many leading electrical manufacturers, as well as forming relationships with major suppliers. This gives the benefits of increased buying power and improved delivery, which can be then passed onto our customers.

We are also a member of the NMBS (National Merchant Building Society). A society to support independent companies in accessing leading suppliers. This has allowed usto provide high quality Kitchen Bathrooms & Bedrooms at competitive prices.

The focus of CEP is entirely on customers, old and new. Here we believe that a superior quality of service and excellent products is the key to future proofing a business. With this in mind, every effort is made to treat customers the way we would expect to be treated ourselves.
